Jonita Gandhi wins Best Musician at Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2024

The Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year awards were held on October 19, with Jonita Gandhi being honoured in the musician category. During her acceptance speech, Gandhi expressed her gratitude and reflected on her journey.
Jonita started her speech by saying, “I’m so honoured to be here. It is such an immense honour to receive this award. I moved here about ten years ago from Canada, and I had a lot of dreams. It’s been a pretty fun ride and a crazy journey. You know, getting to sing for blockbuster films and being discovered by Rahman sir, but there have been so many challenges along the way. I had my fair share of nights thinking, ‘Would things be different if I were a man?’ I realise that in a lot of those experiences, the people who lift me up the most are my women friends.”
The What Jhumka singer continued, “I actually want to dedicate this award to my mum because I realise having a really strong woman in your life can truly make a difference. You know when you really need support, and I’m so glad we are doing this to celebrate women. My mum has inspired me to be there for my friends the way that she has for me, so I’m dedicating this award to her, and I’m going to honour one of the many inspiring women in my life: Beyoncé. Who runs the world? Girls!”
Apart from Jonita, Kriti Sanon, Ananya Panday, Gauri Khan also bagged big honours at the award ceremony.
The Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards were based on a unique feature this year. The event aimed at creating a ‘chain of empowerment’ for women by letting every winner present the trophy to the winner of the next category.
